According to a statement from Labus' office, the occasion for the first meeting was the deputy prime minister's forthcoming visit to Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he is to discuss possibilities to further improve Serbia's economic relations with the two countries, which have already taken significant steps towards the implementation of a regional free trade agreement.
The meeting with Serbian businessmen dealt with ways to remove obstacles to trade with Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and to create conditions for Serbian firms to invest there. Establishing fresh business ties, measures to bolster the competitiveness of Serbia's economy, and efforts to reduce Serbia's foreign trade deficit were also on the agenda, according to the statement.
All participants in today's meetings agreed that solutions must be found to remove non-tariff obstacles, which represent a significant barrier to trade and investment on a regional level.
