Serbian parliament’s Committee on Health and Family endorsed the government and health ministry’s measures against the new flu at today’s session.
Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic acquainted the Committee with the
decision to declare the epidemic, adding that 258 cases of the new flu have been confirmed in Serbia with seven fatalities and four persons at intensive care wards.
He said that Serbia’s strategic goal is to have all citizens inoculated, noting that the Torlak Institute of Immunology and Virology is being seriously considered as a potential vaccine producer.
He stressed that the vaccine was procured in line with the regulations, noting that there is no reason for panic and that everyone should live their normal lives.
He stressed that Serbia will deal with the epidemic effectively.
He said that more than 40 million people in Europe have been vaccinated up until now and not a single case of serious consequences has been reported.
The Committee on Health and Family has called on all relevant institutions to give proper information to the general public in order to effectively implement measures for controlling the epidemic.
One of the conclusions of the Committee is that the health ministry’s working group for the pandemic should be the only body to decide which measures are necessary and its decisions must be valid for all national organs.
