It also states that Serbia is committed to the respect of international law, as well as to strengthening the role of the UN, EU and OSCE and creating the mechanisms for the preservation of security in the world. Its strategic priorities are speedier EU accession process and improvement of relations with Russia, the USA and countries in the region.
The National Security Strategy is the key strategic document determining the basis of the security policy when it comes to protecting Serbian national interests.
Parliament today adopted Serbia’s Defence Strategy outlining the country’s vital defence interests, such as the preservation of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Serbia as well as protection of citizens’ security.
Parliament also adopted amendments to the Law on the Serbian Army as well as amendments to the Law on Defence, allowing for an overall defence system reform.
Under the adopted changes, the Defence Ministry will have its own insignia whose use will be more closely regulated by the government.
