Serbia's industrial production in January 2004, not including Kosovo-Metohija, fell 11.2 percent against last year's average monthly output, at the same time rising 8.2 percent year-on-year, the Serbian Statistics Bureau said in a statement, adding that industrial output in January is particularly influenced by the number of non-working days.
The production and distribution of electricity, gas and water jumped 29.6 percent against last year's monthly average, with the processing industry and ore and stone extraction dropping 22.2 percent and 4.1 percent, respectively.
Energy production climbed 22.1 percent compared with the 2003 average monthly production. The production of intermediate goods declined 24 percent, durable goods 28.1 percent and other consumer goods 23.2 percent.
The production and distribution of electricity, gas and water, cigarettes, oil derivatives, and office machinery, as well as coal extraction posted a rise against last year's monthly average.
Small and medium-sized enterprise sector production index is not included in regular statistical surveys and is based on a sample survey of 300 SMEs, the statement said, adding that only 130 SMEs have submitted their data for January. Total industrial production in January, including SME output figures, fell 14.3 percent against the 2003 monthly average production, with the processing industry decreasing by 24.5 percent.
