Representatives of a team for suppressing smoking from the British Knowsley School and a charity educational organisation presented their experiences in this field so that health and educational workers in Serbia could use them.
The aim of the Knowsley School's anti-smoking programme was to make an efficient service for helping youngsters quit smoking. The approach was to educate children so that they could boost their self-confidence and make a decision on their own.
This programme won the national award for health services and social care last year. The people involved in the programme wish to share their experiences both inside and outside Great Britain.
The meeting was organised by the National Commission for Smoking Prevention of the Serbian Ministry of Health and the Euro Health consultancy company. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry, National Commission, non-governmental organisations, the Institute for Health Care in Subotica, the health centre from Nova Varos, as well as students and teachers from primary and secondary schools.
