European integration, preserving peace, stability priorities for Serbia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić today received a group of 40 students from the branch of the American University Center in Brussels, who are on a study visit to Serbia to learn more about the political, economic and social conditions in Serbia and the region.

Đurić presented Serbia’s key foreign policy priorities to the students, emphasising that the European integration process is one of the country’s strategic goals and an important framework for further reforms and the modernisation of society.

Speaking about regional policy, he noted that preserving peace and stability is one of the most important issues for Serbia, while respecting the principle of the country’s political and military neutrality.

Kosovo and Metohija is the most important national issue and the greatest challenge facing Serbia, the Minister said, stressing that Belgrade is guided by the principles of international law in its resolution.

The head of Serbian diplomacy recalled that, over the past decade, Serbia has more than doubled its gross domestic product and achieved stable growth of around 4% annually, which has largely enabled it to be recognised today as a reliable and predictable partner.
