The Serbian Parliament today approved the revised 2009 budget bill according to which budget revenues will be RSD 649.3 billion and expenditures RSD 719.8 billion. The budget deficit is expected to stand at RSD 70.5 billion.

127 MPs voted in favour of the revised budget bill and 16 voted against.
Earlier, the budget bill for 2009 was passed in-principle with 128 votes.
Parliament is currently voting on amendments to the revised budget. The MPs will also vote on six accompanying laws envisaging higher taxes and reduced state spending in order to deal with the effects of the global economic crisis, as well as the affirmation of the agreement regarding a visa free regime with Russia.
