Parliament adopts several bills, conventions

Serbian parliament today adopted several bills and conventions which Serbia needs in order to get on the Schengen ‘white list’ and also appointed board members to the Anti-Corruption Agency.

Parliament adopted the bill on international legal assistance in criminal matters which will enable the speedier court processing of organised crime cases of trans-national character.
International legal assistance implies extradition of suspects and convicts, taking over or giving up criminal prosecution, execution of sentences and other forms of legal assistance.
MPs also adopted the bill on money laundering and financing terrorism, the bill on birth registers and bill confirming several international conventions.
Parliament passed the Convention on Hi-Tech Crime, Council of Europe Convention on Money Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism.
They also adopted the additional protocol accompanying the Convention on Hi-Tech Crime, referring to racist and xenophobic acts committed via personal computers.
It also adopted the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism and the protocol on amendments to the European Convention on Suppressing Terrorism.
Parliament also confirmed the Council of Europe’s Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism and the Protocol amending the European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism.
Parliament also confirmed the Agreement between Serbia and Denmark on visa relaxation.
MPs adopted the bills amending the law on expropriation and amendments to the Law on tax procedure and Law on tax administration.
Members of the Anti-Corruption Agency were also appointed today.
The nine-member body will comprise Sonja Liht, Tanja Miscevic, Branka Lubarda, Slobodan Beljanski, Cedomir Cupic, Mileva Gajinov, Evica Petrovic, Zlatko Minic and Zoran Stojiljkovic.
