Parliament continues debating 2009 budget bill

Serbian parliament today continued debating amendments to the bill on the 2009 budget proposal, whose deadline for adoption expires at midnight.

In the past several days parliament discussed around 70 amendments, out of the total of 248 that were submitted.
If the parliament does not adopt the budget today, Serbia will shift to provisional financing until its adoption.
The parliament’s rule book states that the budget must be adopted before the end of the second regular session, which, according to the Constitution, ends today.
