Speaking at a session of the Serbian parliament’s Kosovo committee Bogdanovic said that compared to this year the 2009 budget bill envisages 36% less funds for the province.
The Minister said that funds have been reduced by nearly RSD 1,600,000,000, adding that this is a time to show the spirit of solidarity and Kosovo Serbs will have to share the burden of the global financial crisis with their fellow citizens in Serbia.
He said that from the funds envisaged for Kosovo, RSD 100 million has been set aside for social help to returnee families and the families of those kidnapped or killed.
He said that the Ministry for Kosovo is considerably less burdened because of the government’s decision to reduce the so called “double salaries” of Kosovo Serbs by 50%, and because the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has taken over the responsibility of paying social help to Kosovo Serbs.
