Parliament’s extraordinary session on visa-related draft laws cancelled

Serbian parliament speaker Slavica-Djukic Dejanovic informed today MPs that the government retracted the demand for extraordinary parliament session on draft laws concerning visa abolition and anti-corruption regulations.

In the continuation of the afternoon session, Djukic-Dejanovic read the announcement of Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic.
Upon government’s demand, she scheduled an early session on draft laws related to visa abolition and anti-corruption regulations for September 26, but its beginning has been postponed until the end of the current session.
The agenda of the cancelled session should have included the draft laws on protection of personal information, state border protection as well as the draft law on foreigners, which is a condition for Serbia to be on the White Schengen List.
MPs were also to discuss proposals on confiscation of property acquired through criminal activity, legal entities’ responsibility for crimes, the draft law on the anti-corruption agency and amendments to the Law on the financing of political parties.
The last item on the agenda was to be the draft law on the affirmation of additional protocol along with the convention for the protection of individuals, concerning the automatic personal information processing and cross-border data stream.
Under the Serbian Constitution, parliament begins its regular autumn session tomorrow.
Therefore, the session on European regulations is expected to be scheduled additionally as a part of the regular procedure.
