The EU Council of Ministers has decided not to unblock the Transitional Trade Agreement with Serbia as 25 out of 27 member states backed it, with Holland and Belgium voting against.
The Transitional Trade Agreement remains “frozen” as EU officials failed to convince Holland not to oppose the continuation of Serbia’s EU integration process in the manner suggested by Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and Foreign Minister of Luxemburg Jean Aselborn.
Holland conditioned the unfreezing of the agreement by seeking Belgrade’s full cooperation with the Hague tribunal, i.e., the arrest and extradition of Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic.
