Closing the debate on the bill on the ratification of the SAA in the Serbian parliament, Djelic said that on behalf of the Serbian government he accepts the amendment with technical corrections.
According to the aforementioned amendment, a decree will be added as the second clause of the bill stating that Serbia, as legal successor to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, understands decrees of the SAA to be a confirmation of the fact that the SAA does not jeopardise the territorial integrity of Serbia, particularly the status of the province of Kosovo-Metohija as an integral part of Serbia, which is guaranteed by Security Council Resolution 1244.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the SAA will strengthen Serbia, and open up a large number of possibilities and is in the highest interest of the country.
He expressed satisfaction that there is consensus in parliament regarding three key strategic elements – defence of sovereignty, EU membership and building privileged relations with Russia.
Djelic added that today’s parliament session and debate were of great importance, since there was discussion about an agreement important for Serbia and a very good conclusion was reached for the country and all its people, regardless of which party they belong to
We want to enter the EU as soon as possible, but we will not recognise the independence of Kosovo, reiterated the Deputy Prime Minister and added that there can be no bargaining or blackmail on that issue.
