Industry Committee approves energy agreement with Russia

The Industry Committee of the Serbian parliament approved today the Bill on confirming the Agreement between the governments of Serbia and Russia on cooperation in the field of oil and gas industries and sent it to parliament for ratification.
Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric, who attend today's committee session, told the press that the government and this ministry believe that realisation of the oil and gas agreement with Russia is of vital importance.
The implementation of this agreement will bring energy stability to Serbia and a strategic position for the country through which gas for the EU will pass. Also, Serbia will have an opportunity to become an important depositor and possible large gas dealer, Skundric said.
Serbia will start implementation of the agreement under accelerated procedure in order to boost its energy abilities. Some deadlines were already agreed, but they have been missed. That is why we set up a working group, and we are also strengthening all working bodies that will work on the agreement's implementation in order to make up time, the minister concluded.
