Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today in a meeting with UN Chief for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Marie Guéhenno that Kosovo-Metohija is an integral and unalienable part of Serbia according to the UN Charter, UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and Helsinki Final Act.
In a meeting also attended by Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic, Kostunica pointed out that the valid Resolution 1244 must be respected and added that the EULEX mission is illegally present on our territory – in Kosovo-Metohija.
He also stressed that principles of international law have been violated by Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence and reiterated that Serbia will never recognise that illegal act.
The Prime Minister said that a large number of UN member countries have not recognised the fictitious Kosovo state and that over 150 UN members recognise Serbia within its legitimate state borders.
Guéhenno stressed that UN Security Council Resolution 1244 is valid and in effect, and that it is important to find practical solutions together with Belgrade in order to ensure peace and safety in Kosovo-Metohija.
