In a written statement, Kostunica stressed that there is a good and lawful solution for Serbia’s relations with the EU, and pointed to the fact that a single sentence needs to be added to the text of the SAA affirming that Kosovo-Metohija is an inalienable part of Serbia’s territory.
The EU must show that its policy towards Serbia is based on respect and accept that the SAA must be amended with a sentence stating that Kosovo is a province within Serbia, reiterated the Serbian Prime Minister and added that this is a just solution and such an agreement will be acceptable for all in Serbia.
According to Kostunica, until now the US and NATO have exercised a policy of force and put enormous pressure for the SAA to be signed between Serbia and the EU which they could interpret as recognition by Serbia of the independence of the fictitious state of Kosovo.
With the same aim the offer of signing the SAA on April 28 has been made now, but it can not be signed by Serbia, because this has been prohibited by the Serbian Parliament’s Resolution adopted on December 26, 2007, recalled Kostunica.
Instead of all these problems and further complications the best and only rational option would be to include a single and essential sentence in the text of the SAA stating that Kosovo belongs to Serbia. This is a simple, good and the only lawful solution, concluded the Serbian Prime Minister.
