At the meeting Kostunica stressed that further economic progress is crucial for Serbia, adding that foreign direct investments are of particular importance in that respect.
He said that parliamentary elections cannot reduce the inflow of foreign investments in any free and democratic state and invited foreign investors to keep investing in Serbia since it has been established that Serbia is the best investment target in the region.
The Prime Minister added that the new Constitution and a number of systemic laws adopted in the previous period guarantee full legal security for all investors.
Kostunica noted that Serbia will keep fighting for Kosovo-Metohija and that the increase in foreign investments will help it protect its rights at the international level, which are guaranteed by the UN Charter.
President of the Foreign Investors Council Stein Erik Vellan said that foreign investors have understanding for the current situation that Serbia finds itself in, and that by investing in Serbia they assumed responsibility to help in the realisation of a common goal, and that is Serbia's further economic development.
Foreign investors believe that their best contribution is to continue doing business in this market and promoting Serbia as an investment location in the home countries of the companies that are council members, Vellan said.
He said that for foreign investors who do business in Serbia it is very important that they were once again assured that Serbia is clearly committed to maintaining stability of the business climate and providing equal conditions for all who do business in Serbia.
