Serbian parliament Speaker Oliver Dulic scheduled the provincial and local elections for May 11, 2008.
On the same day, parliament members adopted laws on territorial organisation, local self-government, elections in local self-government, and on the capital, which created conditions for calling local and provincial elections.
134 parliament members voted for the Law on territorial organisation, 131 for the Law on local self-government, and 133 for the Law on elections in local self-government and the Law on the capital.
