The Serbian Electoral Committee (RIK) established today the deadlines for the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for January 20, 2008, as well as rules for implementing the Law on the election of the president and forms for submitting candidates for the president of the republic.
RIK envisages that candidate proposals may be submitted by December 30 at midnight, whereas the deadline for announcing the list of candidates in the Official Herald is January 5, 2008.
Election results and election material must be submitted to RIK by January 21 at 2 pm at the latest, and the final results of presidential elections must be determined no later than by January 24 at 8 pm.
RIK members voted that the deadline for announcing the total number of voters is January 4 at midnight, and the final register of voters will be announced in the Official Herald right after the deadline for registering voters through court decision expires.
Elections in Kosovo-Metohija will be carried out at polling stations at which the necessary legal conditions for conducting elections are fulfilled and all voters can be safe during the elections.
RIK will determine polling stations in Kosovo-Metohija at the proposal of district heads in the province, by December 30 at midnight at the latest.
Election material for all municipalities in Kosovo-Metohija will be delivered at the head office of the Kosovska Mitrovica district, that is, in the town of Kosovska Mitrovica.
