Markovic said that the law envisions three services: Security and Intelligence Agency as independent body, Military and Security Agency and Military and Intelligence Agency as part of the Defence Ministry.
The Minister said that under this law, a National Security Council as well as Office for coordination of work of security services will be established.
He explained that members of the National Security Council will include President of the Republic, Prime Minister, Army Chief-of-Staff, ministers of defence, interior and justice, directors of security services and head of President’s cabinet who will be Council’s secretary.
The Office for coordination will include directors of security services and secretary of the National Security Council.
When necessary, representatives of the Foreign Ministry, police director, state public prosecutor, director of the Customs Administration and representatives of other state bodies will be included in the work of this office, added Markovic.
He noted that this bill envisions that parliament through its defence and security board will control and supervise security services.
Also, directors of security services will be obliged to submit reports to the defence and security board, he noted.
