Head of the Office for International Cooperation and EU Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Drazen Maravic said that the Agreement on visa relaxations is a step toward annulment of visas for Serbian citizens.
He explained that the Agreement refers to special categories of citizens such as businesspeople, students, experts, athletes, artists, journalists, etc.
The Agreement defines the visa issuance procedure, validity and price, he said noting that majority of visas will be issued free of charge.
Maravic presented the bill on confirmation of the Agreement between Serbia and the EU on readmission, noting that this agreement is a step toward Serbia’s inclusion on the White Schengen List.
This bill envisions return of illegal immigrants to Serbia, he said.
According to him, the bill on asylum is part of Serbia’s EU integration process.
He also announced the establishment of three bodies: the asylum office as part of the Interior Ministry, commission for asylum as independent expert body and centre for asylum as part of the Serbian Commissariat for Refugees.
