At a lecture held in the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Spasojevic said that reform is in the function of general stability in the region and strengthening regional stability.
At a panel discussion dedicated to security challenges in the Balkans, the greatest attention focused on the Kosovo-Metohija issue as one of the crucial problems for regional stability.
The Serbian Assistant Minister of Defence said that Serbian defence structures and the Ministry of Defence led by Minister Dragan Sutanovac fully support government firm position on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija that a solution should be reached through political dialogue.
He noted that the Ministry of Defence has full cooperation with KFOR international military forces in Kosovo, with whose members they conducted about 800 patrols along the administrative border of the southern province.
Spasojevic held the lecture at the institute as part of his three-day working
visit to the UK.
This morning, he
met with officials from the UK Foreign Office, after which he said that the talks were constructive and despite differences in policy toward Kosovo-Metohija the UK and Serbia have great potential for cooperation.
According to him, officials from the UK Foreign Office reiterated UK support to Serbia’s EU integration and confirmed that the UK will support finding a solution for Kosovo through negotiations.
Spasojevic will wrap up his visit to London tomorrow in a meeting with British Minister of State for the Armed Forces Bob Ainsworth.
