In a statement to the news agency Beta, Milosavljevic explained that this is a health policy forum at which participants are top officials from European countries who design health policy and a European strategy for better health in the upcoming period. He added that this is a good opportunity for maintaining existing and creating new contacts.
According to Milosavljevic, investment in the health system in a wider context should be understood as investment in economic development since that is very important for a country in transition.
He said that an important meeting of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe will be held in the margins of the forum, where the European declaration on strengthening health systems to be adopted in 2008 will be prepared.
The Health Minister also participated in the work of the session related to the European Strategy for Tobacco Control, and the meeting dedicated to the pharmaceuticals market which will become a single market in Europe.
The 10th European Health Forum was held this year with the title “Creating a Better Future for Health in Europe”, and Serbia attended the forum for the first time as a special guest. The event was also attended by representatives of the World Bank, the WHO, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, as well as European Union Commissioner for Health Markos Kyprianou.
