During his visit to the Bor municipality, Djilas said that due to its extremely poor condition and particularly the damaged collector, this barren land is a huge potential polluter of the Bor and Zajecar regions, adding that the project to repair the collector and flotation dams will be financed from the National Investment Plan with RSD 170 million.
Minister of Environmental Protection Sasa Dragin, who accompanied Minister Djilas on this visit, warned that the damaged collector might cause the pollution to reach the Danube River and, consequently, the Black Sea.
Having visited the Veliki Krivelj site and talked with RTB Bor management, Djilas and Dragin met with heads of the Bor and Zajecar districts and presidents of eight municipalities in the Timocka Krajina region.
Djilas explained that regional projects which join together a number of municipalities will be given preference. He stated that seven thousand project proposals have so far been submitted for the National Investment Plan.
He expressed expectation that in 2008 the National Investment Plan will be funded from the state budget, as well as from loans of international financial organisations and EU funds.
According to Djilas, €110 million of €388 million euros have been used, whilst the remaining total has gone to the foreign currency reserve budget.
The Minister stated that a new competition for funds from the National Investment Plan will be announced in March next year and that strategic priorities for investments will be infrastructure, employment increase and education.
