Dinkic said that the government will adopt the master plan in October and voiced belief that by year’s end municipalities of Pozarevac, Petrovac, Malo Crnice, Kucevo and Despotovac will organise a joint tourist organisation to help them take part in the tourist market.
He said this will be a great opportunity for the development of the entire eastern Serbia and that these five municipalities, which are mostly underdeveloped, should take advantage of it. Local municipal authorities are ready to support this project, added Dinkic.
Minister Dinkic recalled that in 2000 Serbia’s tourism revenue stood at only few million dollars, whereas this year half a billion dollars is expected.
The Ministry’s plan is to double the sum by the end of the government’s mandate, that is, to increase tourism revenue to $1 billion, Dinkic said. He added that the aim is to show that even without a coastline Serbia can pull in considerable revenue in foreign currency.
The presentation in Zagubica was attended by State Secretary for Tourism Goran Petkovic and State Secretary for Regional Development Verica Kalanovic. Also present were municipal presidents and directors of tourist organisations of Pozarevac, Petrovac, Malo Crnice, Kucevo and Despotovac.
