Serbian Minister of Environmental Protection Sasa Dragin called on parliament members to vote for ratification of the Kyoto protocol.
He recalled that due to air pollution, 1,700 complaints were filed this year, mostly in Pancevo, and that the work of the fertiliser plant was stopped.
The ratification of the Kyoto Protocol does not bind Serbia to reduce the emission of harmful gases that cause climate change, but it will bring Serbia significant economic effects through foreign investments into projects of clear development and reduction of local environmental pollution.
Serbian parliament session will be continued on September 17 at 10 am.
