Sutanovac, Panagopoulos welcome Serbian pilots who helped in fighting fires in Greece

Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and Greek Ambassador to Serbia Christos Panagopoulos welcomed today at the airport in Lisicji Jarak pilots and technical personnel of Jat Airways who took part in extinguishing fires in Greece during the past 10 days.

Sutanovac said on the occasion that owing to the help of Serbian pilots, it has once again been proven that the Serbian people are brothers to the Greek nation.
He expressed gratitude to the pilots and technical personnel of Jat Airways for the work done and explained that the Defence Ministry coordinated the help provided to Greece at the request of the Greek Defence Minister.
Panagopoulos stressed that today one more shining chapter in the history of Serbia and Greek relations is closing.
We will never forget what you did, said Panagopoulos, and conveyed to the Serbian Defence Minister, pilots and technical personnel of Jat Airways messages of gratitude from top Greek officials.
Pilot Zoran Lucic said in a statement to the news agency Tanjug that the entire Serbian team is satisfied with the job successfully done, adding that it was particularly difficult while flying at relatively lower altitude above villages caught in fire and the biggest difficulties were created by the constant white and black clouds of smoke in the air.
Eight pilots and six technicians participated in the action to extinguish fires during the past 10 days in Greece, and the operation was coordinated by Serbian Assistant Minister of Defence Dusan Spasojevic.
