The certificate on harmonisation of the environmental protection system with the ISO 14001:2004 environmental standard was presented to an agency representative by director of the Societé Générale de Surveillance S.A in Belgrade Marinko Ukropina.
Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said at a ceremony held in the agency premises that it is a good sign that this certificate was awarded to the agency, and added that as an expert and independent institute the agency has an important role to play in regulating the area of pharmaceutics in Serbia.
Milosavljevic said that it is very important that the agency got this certificate considering the fact that agency premises are in an inhabited area, near to the city centre.
He said that the agency is following the most modern trends in environmental protection and that in the future it will introduce even more strict criteria for controlling quality of medicines.
Director of the Serbian Medicines and Medical Devices Agency Tomislav Solarovic said that that this agency conducted certification of the 9001 standard this year, and announced that next week a course will be held in European pharmacopoeia in relation to the national laboratory, following which it is expected that the agency will get support for top European standards.
Director of quality control at the agency Gordana Savic said that the certificate gives great encouragement to domestic producers and distributors of medicines in introducing this and other international standards, with the goal of harmonisation with EU regulations as quickly as possible.
