Tomica Milosavljevic addresses the gathering on occasion of completion of project "Emergency Reconstruction of Health Centres in Serbia"

At a camp in Kosutnjak, at a ceremony held on occasion of completion of the project “Improvement of Preventive Health Services in Serbia”, Milosavljevic announced that the project will be continued and such centres will be opened in 11 more health centres.
According to Milosavljevic, the main aim of the project is to raise awareness among people regarding the importance of early diagnosis of diseases such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, diabetes and cardiac problems.
The Minister said that prevention and improvement of health are the responsibility of the entire society, and results of efforts made by the Serbian government are visible.
Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Snezana Samardzic-Markovic stressed that her ministry will develop recreational sports in schools since that is an area which was not developed until now, and is extremely important for the health of young people.
She stressed that the health of children and young people will be a priority adding that the way children and young people spend their leisure time is very important in prevention of non-infectious diseases and for proper development.
The project “Improvement of Preventive Health Services in Serbia” began on September 1, 2004, when 25 preventive health care centres were opened, of which 21 are located in provincial areas and four are in Belgrade.
