Rasim Ljajic
In a statement to the Radio Television of Serbia, Ljajic said that stability will be preserved through political integration of the ethnic Albanian community and further strengthening of municipalities in South Serbia.
He said that incidents in this part of the country which took place several days ago are a warning and they point out that police and army forces, together with UNMIK and Kfor, should carry out stricter control of the administrative border line.
That is the only way to stop and prevent criminal actions from being transferred to these three municipalities, stressed Ljajic and added that cooperation of the Serbian army and police with UNMIK and Kfor is necessary since control will be useful unless both sides are performing it.
He also said that the issue of the control of the administrative border line will be brought forward in upcoming talks with UNMIK and Kfor representatives because of the weapons which are brought to southern Serbia, as well as because of persons who found refuge in Kosovo-Metohija after having committed serious crimes.
As for safety, Ljajic said it is most important to maintain the current level of political stabilisation and inter-ethnic relations. He also added that none of the incidents which took place in the past several days had a political or ethnic dimension.
It is very indicative and encouraging that residents of the Konculj village have condemned what took place on August 4, said Ljajic and concluded that such incidents bring most harm to common citizens who are waiting for jobs, stability and better days.
