Ljajic said on his tour of the Bujanovac-Konculj area where the clashes occurred that neither this incident, nor the two cases of murder in Bujanovac and Presevo which took place on August 7, have a political background, but preventive action must be taken due to the fact that the areas in question are sensitive.
One of the preventive measures, he said, will be strengthened cooperation between Serbian police, KFOR and UNMIK police to discover where perpetrators of such acts in Bujanovac and Presevo secure their weapons supply.
According to Ljajic, such cooperation is important also in order to identify the perpetrators who mainly escape to Kosovo-Metohija, where they are able to hide without problems.
The number of security forces in the Ground Safety Zone will not be reduced in the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo, but they will not be increased either. However, police patrols on the Bujanovac-Konculj area will be increased, said Ljajic.
He said that the Coordinating Body will be reorganised and instead of eight there will be three working groups which will deal with issues of security, economy and the integration of Albanians into Serbian political life.
Ljajic, accompanied by deputy presidents of the Coordinating Body Nenad Popovic and Dusan Spasojevic, met with representatives of the Serbian Army, the gendarmerie, police and the Security and Intelligence Agency, and discussed the political and security situation in the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo.
