Sutanovac invited on the occasion all those interested to give suggestions regarding the draft laws on defence and army on which a public debate was opened yesterday.
He congratulated members of the 98th aviation base who took part in the efforts to extinguish fires in Serbia and pointed to the fact that their performance was far above the level allowed by army resources.
The Minister expressed conviction that in the upcoming period the army budget will be significantly increased to meet the needs of aviation, so that besides defence the army may participate in civil operations.
Air Force and Air Defence Commander Dragan Katanic recalled that flights have increased since continuity in fuel supply has been established and expected expectation that the first MIG 29 planes will return after renovation from Russia by the end of the year.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Chief of General Staff General Miloje Miletic, Land Forces Commander General Mladen Cirkovic, representatives of local self-governments, the Serbian Ministry of Interior, Zandarmerija unit, and foreign military envoys in Belgrade.
