Jocic told the media that at the moment two such planes are being used to extinguish a major fire in Bulgaria.
He said that representatives of the Interior Ministry talked with the agricultural aviation of the Serbian national airline JAT regarding the possibility of including them in efforts to extinguish the fire.
The Minister said that the cause of the fires breaking out throughout Serbia is mainly the human factor and appealed to residents of affected areas to help fire-fighters, police and the military in extinguishing the fire.
The public forest management company Srbijasume stated today that forest fires in Serbia are still a huge problem and due to the heat, toughness of terrain, wind, as well as negligence, the situation is very difficult.
Currently a total area of 2,503 hectares in Serbia is caught by fires, and fires are still burning at 50 locations, however, all fires are under control. The largest area on fire covers 1,050 hectares in Pirot, where fires are under control but the process of extinguishing is continuing.
