After the talks with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Jeremic said that Kosovo-Metohija is the major challenge to regional peace and stability and underlined that Serbia believes that the best solution for Kosovo would be the one adopted in the UN Security Council.
He said that Belgrade will remain a constructive and responsible participant in the process and added that no division of Kosovo would lead to stability in the region.
Minister Steinmeier also said that division is not a solution and recalled that the history of Europe is history of conflicts which led to the fact that there are no monoethnic states in Europe. Therefore, that would not be a good perspective for the western Balkans either.
Jeremic warned all participants in the process of establishing future status of Kosovo that all unilateral actions would be dangerous and they would not bring about peace and stability.
The German Foreign Minister said that it is necessary to wait for continuation of consultations in the UN Security Council and if the continuation of negotiations is approved, both sides should be encouraged to use that opportunity because there can be no lasting stability in the Balkans if the future status of Kosovo is not established.
He also promised that Germany will help Serbia on its road to the EU.
The Serbian Foreign Minister will also meet today in Berlin with German Minister of Defence Franz Josef Jung and members of the Bundestag.
