Jeremic, who is on a one-day working visit to Berlin, gave an interview for today’s edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung daily and said that if the UN Security Council declares independence of Kosovo-Metohija, a precedent would be created.
He said Serbia expects the talks between Belgrade and Pristina to resume promptly and warned that the Kosovo issue must not be resolved outside the UN Security Council.
If any state does anything that breaches our sovereignty, it is clear that we could not act as if nothing happened. In any case, there would be no other choice for us but to rethink our relations with that country, stressed the Minister and specified that it does not mean an automatic severing of diplomatic relations.
According to Jeremic, the other possibilities and instruments for defining inter-state relations exist through the use of diplomacy.
As for Serbia’s talks with Brussels regarding the conclusion of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU, Jeremic said he is convinced that the document will be signed in due time.
