Milosavljevic said that the hospitals are being renovated as part of the Ministry’s project themed “Emergency reconstruction of Twenty Hospitals in Serbia” and recalled that the project began in 2003, financed by a loan of the European Investment Bank.
He said that apart from the abovementioned project, another one, themed “Restructuring Hospital Capacities”, is underway in Serbia and includes four hospitals, whereas yet another project titled “Energy Efficiency in Serbia” will be implemented in 17 hospitals.
The Minister explained that the projects are financed from World Bank funds and added that funds from the National Investment Plan will also be set aside for hospitals which were not included in these programmes because they were in better condition than those already enveloped by them.
He announced new investments regarding the procurement of modern equipment and information systems, as well as improvement of management in health institutions and said that this will first be done in Subotica, Leskovac and Paracin and afterwards in other municipalities.
The Minister officially put into use the renovated facilities of the Cacak hospital and voiced pleasure that the wards were completely renovated and now meet the latest health standards.
Director of the Cacak health centre Momcilo Spasic specified that €3.5 million was invested in the reconstruction, of which €1 million was used to purchase new medical equipment.
The Cacak health centre was also visited by European Agency for Reconstruction’s Deputy Chief of Health Programmes Maja Krcmar-Vuckovic and representative of the European Investment Bank John Davies.
