Elaborating on the Bill on amendments to the Law on civil servants at Serbian parliament, Markovic stressed that currently only 22 civil servants are appointed in line with the law and added that if the Bill is not passed, 380 civil servants appointed in line with previous regulations, will lose their jobs.
He warned that that will endanger the work and functioning of state services and the state itself.
The Minister said that the adoption of this Bill is the only way to overcome the situation the state is in at the moment because the previous government could not have carried out these processes at the end of its mandate, whereas the new government was formed only recently.
The Bill on amendments to the Law on civil servants envisages longer deadlines for carrying out activities regarding public announcements for positions until May 1, 2008, instead of July 1 this year.
