Protocol on Norwegian donation to Institute for Strategic Research

Serbian Assistant Minister of Defence Dusan Spasojevic and Head of the Directorate for Long-Term Planning of the Norwegian Ministry of Defence Jorgen Berggrav signed today a Protocol on a €600,000 donation to the Institute for Strategic Research of the Serbian Ministry of Defence.

Spasojevic voiced hope that this donation will help the Institute become the best in the country and thanked Norway on great support it gives Serbia in its accession to the Partnership for Peace programme.
He said that the donation is intended for providing the Institute with IT equipment, as well as for exchange and education of personnel. He said that investing in knowledge and science is very important since in the 21st century, battles are not won by weapons, but by knowledge and skills.
Berggrav voiced satisfaction with cooperation between the two ministries carried out so far and added that this donation marks the beginning of cooperation in research and scientific projects.
Apart from the officials of the Serbian Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army, the signing of the Protocol was attended by Norwegian Ambassador to Belgrade Haakon Blankeborg and the Chief of General Staff of the Norwegian Army.
