Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic attended today a delivery of Japanese government's donation to the Institute for the Health Care of the Mother and Child, which Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Tadashi Nagai handed over to the Institute's Director Dragutin Trickovic.

The donation consists of non-repayable aid worth RSD 5.9 million that includes medical equipment.
Milosavljevic said that Serbia's priority is to preserve the health of children and the young and recalled that in the past three years, the Ministry has set aside some RSD 4.4 million for investment maintenance and over RSD 1.7 million for equipment in this institute.
Ambassador Nagai said that the total Japanese donation to Serbia in the past eight years amounts to €193 million and during the same period, the Japanese government has worked out 89 projects for basic needs of Serbia's population.
Director of the Institute Dragutin Trickovic said that the treatment of the youngest patients has been significantly improved owing to this donation. He added that thanks to the Serbian government and the Ministry of Health, the Institute received a considerable loan from the European Investment Bank for the building's renovation and provision with medical equipment, and owing to scholarships granted by the Japanese government, several doctors from the Institute underwent advanced training in Japanese hospitals.
