Sutanovac said that the Ministry of Defence will support potentials of the Serbian military industry and carry out a series of activities to attract foreign investors in Serbia who will work on developing new projects.
He said he expects the Serbian government to compose a strategy to revive the defence industry and thus reduce the country’s foreign trade deficit since these products would participate in Serbia’s export.
The Minister said that defence industry products comprise a political dimension and an export-related element and added that the entire government must engage in the resolution of the defence industry’s problems in order to increase its export potential.
Together with Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Army Major-General Zdravko Ponos, Sutanovac visited both domestic and foreign exhibitors of weapons and military equipment.
The fair will be held until June 29 and is organised by the Jugoimport-SDPR Company and the Belgrade Fairgrounds. It is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence.
Belgrade Army Museum is taking part in the fair for the first time with its exhibition themed “Weapons – A Segment in the History of Civilisation”, showing the development of weapons from prehistoric age until the present.
From June 26-28, “Partner 2007” will be open for business visitors only, whereas on June 29 it will be open for all from 10 am until 7 pm.
