Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović spoke today with Ambassador of France to Serbia Florence Ferrari about further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as Serbia’s European path.
On this occasion, the importance of the intensive political dialogue and strategic partnership that the two countries are developing on the basis of long-standing friendly relations was particularly emphasised.
Starović pointed out that membership in the European Union remains a strategic commitment and one of the key foreign policy priorities of our country, emphasising that the Government of Serbia is committed to implementing reforms that lead to further harmonisation with European standards, strengthening institutions, the rule of law and improving the quality of life of citizens.
The Minister also pointed out the importance of implementing the Reform Agenda and the European Union Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as key instruments for Serbia’s economic integration into the EU Single Market.
Speaking about the European integration process, he stated that Serbia supports initiatives that enable the gradual inclusion of candidate countries in certain EU policies and programmes even before formal membership.
According to him, such an approach brings concrete benefits to citizens and the economy, further encourages reforms and represents an important step towards full membership.
Starović expressed gratitude for the continuous political and technical support that France provides to Serbia’s European path and its efforts to make the enlargement process more efficient and credible.
