In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Kovacic said that the Agency is experienced in implementing such loans and there is already a series of projects which could be realised with these funds.
He specified that the funds may be used to build a single energy system in the Nis Clinical Centre and implement energy efficiency measures in public buildings in the health, education and social care sectors, which would include 80 schools and hospitals, as well as four structures which are part of the Kragujevac University.
According to Kovacic, out of the total $28 million, $10 million will be used under IDA terms and $18 under the terms of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). He added these amounts could be increased depending on the draft and volume of project activities.
The list of proposed facilities, schools, hospitals and social care facilities will be submitted by representatives of resource ministries. Depending on the results of technical revisions, to be coordinated by the Agency, the final selection of facilities will be made, explained Kovacic.
He said the Agency expects to get the lists from line ministries and also to conduct preliminary revision, after which it will propose technical measures for each facility and the whole project will be divided into four stages.
Kovacic said that before 2010, all projects will be divided into stages meaning that energy efficiency measures will be implemented in 25 schools and hospitals every year.
He also recalled that the first stage of a similar project got excellent results and the resulting energy savings are considerable, adding that the methodology was praised by all international factors, primarily the World Bank, which has had a positive effect on the decision about additional financing, that is, the continuation of the project.
