Minister of Youth and Sports welcomes U-21 national football team

Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Snezana Samardzic-Markovic last night welcomed the Serbian under 21 national football team, which was runner-up in the European Under-21 Football Championship in the Netherlands.

I wish to congratulate you on behalf of the Serbian government on the great success. The winning of second place in Europe is an extraordinary result. Not only have you promoted the country in the best possible way, but you have ensured entrance to the Olympic Games in Beijing and I also congratulate you on that, said Samardzic-Markovic.
She said that such values should be promoted adding that this is a young team that represents the future of Serbian football.
President of the Serbian Football Association Zvezdan Terzic expressed thanks for the welcome and greeting as well as for the support from the Serbian government.
The national team’s selector Miroslav Djukic said that the footballers managed to reach the finals only thanks to team play and described the runners-up prize as a great success for Serbian football.
On behalf of players, team captain Branislav Ivanovic thanked all those who supported the national team on its way to the final.
She said that such values should be promoted adding that this is a young team that represents the future of Serbian football.
