Maravic said in a statement to Tanjug news agency that that agreement will enable the Serbian police to make an evaluation of threats and general safety in the country, in cooperation with Europol.
This agreement will also enable exchange of statistical data, but not personal data because that requires an operational agreement that comes later, after the strategic agreement.
Maravic said that the Europol is a structure that facilitates exchange of information between police and other services concerning the implementation of laws of EU member states and the third countries with which they have an agreement.
States can sign two types of agreement with Europol - one is operational, and the other is strategic which is signed with the third country, ie a country that is not a member of the EU.
