Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica received today Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis, who said that he supports sovereignty and territorial integrity of all member states of that organisation, including Serbia whose integral part is Kosovo-Metohija.
Davis said that the Council of Europe makes no differences between states when it comes to the principle of respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Kostunica said that international order is based on the UN Charter whose basic principle is the respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity and underlined that it is completely unacceptable that a part of territory be snatched away from Serbia.
Kostunica said that in line with its European values of protection and rights of national minorities, Serbia proposed substantial autonomy for the province of Kosovo-Metohija within Serbia.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that same rules must be applied to all states and that exceptions must not be made because that would lead to serious consequences in the world.
