Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, spoke today in Cairo with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sherif Fathi Attia about improving cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism, cultural heritage and connecting the citizens of Serbia and Egypt.

The interlocutors assessed that there is considerable room for further strengthening tourist exchange and emphasised that increasing the number of tourists from Serbia visiting Egypt, as well as Egyptian tourists coming to Serbia, should be one of the common priorities in the coming period.
In this context, the importance of re-establishing a direct air route between the two countries was particularly emphasised, which would further contribute to the development of tourism, economic cooperation and closer ties between the two peoples.
After the meeting, Macut visited the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the most important museum complexes in the world and the largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilisation.
During the tour, the Prime Minister became acquainted with the rich cultural and historical heritage of ancient Egypt, as well as with the modern approach to the preservation and presentation of archaeological treasures.
The Prime Minister underlined that cultural heritage represents an important bridge between peoples and that Serbia and Egypt, as countries with rich history and tradition, have much room for cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and education.
