Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met in Cairo today with Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly to discuss advancing political and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Macut emphasised that Serbia remains committed to further strengthening economic relations with Egypt, and announced the opening of a representative office of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Cairo by the end of the year, with the aim of providing additional support to companies and enhancing business contacts.
Madbouly pointed to the exceptionally good and traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and Egypt, which are based on cooperation dating back to the times of the Non-Aligned Movement, expressing his belief that such ties will continue to develop in the coming period.
The interlocutors also discussed opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation, with Prime Minister Madbouly stating that it is necessary to intensify activities for the full implementation of the Free Trade Agreement, which was signed in 2024, and to speed up the process of issuing visas to Egyptian citizens.
He assessed that Egypt’s participation in Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade represents an opportunity of great importance for his country and expressed satisfaction with the upcoming participation.
As he pointed out, organising a business forum is very important for cooperation between the two countries.
Macut and Madbouly emphasised the importance of restoring direct air traffic between the two countries, as well as the need to increase the volume of trade and overall economic cooperation, assessing that there is significant room for further advancing the partnership between Serbia and Egypt.
