After a public discussion on the national strategy for agriculture and rural development held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Milosavljevic said that during the period of interim financing, RSD 7 billion have been used for agriculture.
The Minister said that this year the budget is somewhat smaller due to inadequate realisation of last year's, which was RSD 27.6 billion and RSD 21 billion were spent.
Restrictions will be applied in those areas in which funds were not spent in their entirety last year and in the first six months of this year, and that is replacement of agricultural machinery and the loans that were envisaged for the last year, but were not spent.
He said that the promised subsidy of the average €100 per hectare for registered agricultural farms will be allocated in order to improve the position of agricultural producers.
We will do that through four forms of assistance - subsidies for fuel, fertilisers, seeds and autumn sowing, Milosavljevic explained.
He said that the aim is to change production in favour of those crops which are in higher demand and to which domestic producers have to get accustomed.
According to him, more profitable crops are tobacco, hops, industrial plants, wine grape and berries.
Today's discussion was attended by representatives of producers' associations, directors of the largest agricultural companies and institutes, representatives of faculties of agriculture and Serbian municipality presidents.
