Opening the reconstructed section of M-21 main road Borova Glava - Uvac, 17.7 kilometres long, Kostunica said that funds for construction of the above-mentioned parts of the road network have been secured.
In this moment when we are fighting a big battle for Kosovo-Metohija to remain part of Serbia, we cannot stop fighting the other battle, and that is to make Serbia more stable, to improve living standards, increase employment, and to strengthen the economy. In that field, one of the best investments is infrastructure, and first of all roads, the Serbian Prime Minister said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic, who said that the Serbian government’s aim is to make good roads leading to every village and to every house, and added that the section Borova Glava - Uvac was the biggest trouble spot on the road towards Montenegro.
Also present at the ceremony were Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic and representatives of the road construction companies Putevi Srbije and Putevi Uzice, the companies which carried out construction works on the section Borova Glava-Uvac.
Borova Glava – Uvac is the fourth of the five sections on M-21 main road which was reconstructed, on routes Uzice-Zlatibor-Nova Varos-Prijepolje.
Today Kostunica also visited "Uvac" special nature reserve and on that occasion said that Serbia will not participate in any negotiations on Kosovo's status that would imply independence as an already determined solution for the province's status.
Commenting on the statement of US Special Envoy for Kosovo status Frank Wisner who implied the possibility of further negotiations between Serbs and Kosovo Albanians with the aim of showing that all efforts on reaching an agreement on Kosovo have been exhausted, Kostunica said that the negotiations whose outcome is known in advance are not negotiations.
That is why he refused such an offer
today in the talks with Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema and pointed out that Serbia wants to talk about a compromise solution that would be within the framework of the UN Charter and Resolution 1244.
Those are not negotiations and we will do everything to reach an utterly sensible and logical solution by using all the arguments which Serbia has - we will not change the borders, we respect the territorial integrity of existing states and we want to solve the issue of relations between peoples who live in Kosovo-Metohija within those parameters, Kostunica said.
Speaking about the re-registration of vehicles with Montenegrin licence plates in Serbia, the Serbian Prime Minister said that the government will solve that problem soon and find a solution that will be in line with existing regulations, but that will also meet the interests and the acquired rights of citizens.
