In a statement to the Beta news agency, Miscevic stressed that it only remains to carry out technical harmonisation and added there are no major problems regarding the talks because there is good will on both sides to reach agreement on the matter very soon.
She explained that initialling can therefore be expected to take place by year’s end, after which the agreement will be signed, for which, however, the key condition is Serbia’s full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
After the introductory part of today’s talks Miscevic said that the European Commission promised to help Serbia in its efforts to conclude the technical round of talks by the end of next month, which will require a great deal of work.
She specified it remains to harmonise trade liberalisation regimes for certain industrial and agricultural products, adding that these are basically products which some EU member countries find particularly interesting or sensitive for their needs.
Today in Brussels the participants of the meeting thoroughly discussed all that has been done on the harmonisation of text of the SAA, as well as other remaining matters which the European Commission is to send to Serbia and others that the Serbian team has to further clarify to the Commission.
It was also agreed on how and when certain portions of the agreement will be negotiated.
They also reached agreement on the need to share all the necessary documentation and that after individual consultations, experts from both sides should meet and discuss trade liberalisation of industrial, agricultural and other products.
